#18: Dylan From The Past, Reporting

"The Arrogant Palm of a Small Human" / 小さな人間の傲慢な掌

Armstrong takes Ed to Xerxes to discover the meaning of "beautiful women out east". Unfortunately, it's not enough to justify the emotional wringer of the previous episode. Other topics discussed in this review include Dark Souls, what makes a good cliffhanger, and how Fullmetal Alchemist is like a Charles Dickens novel.

#17: Aristotelian Drama

"Cold Flame" / 冷徹な焔

Apparently Mustang is a cold mofo. The McArthur brothers begin the review with some followup on the new opener and then move on to talk about the difference between villains and antagonists, what makes a good bad guy, and how the writers of FMA structure the drama of an episode.

#16: Father Bought a Zoo

"Footsteps of a Comrade-in-Arms" / 戦友の足跡

Both of the McArthur brothers are in nitpick mode, because quite frankly this episode of Fullmetal Alchemist wasn't as good as it deserved to be. Mostly they talk about the writing. We're not mad. We're just disappointed.

#15: A Tiny Little Crush on Riza Hawkeye

"Envoy of the East" / 東方の使者

When a woman loves a man, apparently that's all the character development we need. Dylan is unimpressed with the Xingese characters, unrealistic interrogation techniques, and pretty much everything about this episode. Timothy isn't, so he divulges a potato related spoiler.

#13: Convenient Demonstration Hammer

"Beasts of Dublith" / ダブリスの獣たち

Historicity is for wimps, especially when it comes to alchemy and diminutive creatures from European folklore. As usual, Dylan makes a lot of remarks regarding the intricate craftsmanship of animation, theorizes that Scar is still two people sharing a single body, and complains about inaccurate movie clichés. Timothy makes a terrible pun.

#11: Full-Meta Alchemist

"Miracle at Rush Valley" / ラッシュバレーの奇跡

Timothy promised a much better episode then what we got, but that doesn't stop Dylan from breaking down every little detail and pondering the nature of film criticism. In summary: none of this matters, all of us are going to die, and don't replace your children's legs with gun legs.

#9: On Fridays We Wear Puce

"Created Feelings" / 創られた想い

Thank Ishvala that storyline got wrapped up quick. Cue further gushing on the characterizations of Edward and Alphonse Elric. Also, Colonel Hughes should be arrested for kidnapping on two accounts, now. Unfortunately, the creators of the show seem to be laying on thick that one of the Hughes is going to die next episode. Dylan's money is on Elicia.

#7: Barry the Chopper's Curvaceous Design

"Hidden Truths" / 隠された真実

Turns out the missing ingredient to the Philosopher's Stone was inside our heroes the whole time! Dylan has some theories about the Ishvalan War, and Timothy has quote "no freaking comment". A new villain is introduced and the McArthur brothers have a lot to say about that character's design. In fact, most of the episode is really just a detailed analysis of that one character.

#6: Fullmetal Alchemist The Musical!

"Road of Hope" / 希望の道

This episode was beautiful, but the McArthur brothers aren't sure what it means. Instead they discuss montage, tonality, and the secret brilliance of hiding a book where only grad students will think to look -- a library. Dylan sings about the death of Winry's parents to the tune of Anything Goes.

#5: A Sophisticated Swear

"Rain of Sorrows" / 哀しみの雨

It's Christmas in January and Armstrong has again lost his shirt. Dylan and Timothy use this opportunity to debate sub vs dub and whether or not alchemy counts as magic. Dylan retaliates by theorizing that Führer Bradley might not be totally human and Timothy gives some advice on dating his brother.

#3: Leave a Cookie For Stretchy Claws

"City of Heresy" / 邪教の街

On today's agenda: a filler episode with a religious cult and an obvious red herring. Sounds like this one's going to be a winner, for sure! Topics include: different translations of Japanese, should sci-fi ever be allowed to comment on religion, and what would a Nightmare Before Christmas/FMA crossover look like?

#2: This Should Have Been The Pilot

"The First Day" / はじまりの日

It's tears all around as the McArthur brothers review "The First Day", a vastly superior second episode of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. On today's agenda: why does Truth look like Gluttony? Whose hands are those coming out of the gate? Why does Fuhrer Bradley move so fast? And can Timothy stop himself from telling Dylan the answers?

The McArthur Brothers describe their history with Fullmetal Alchemist (or Dylan's lack thereof) and why they've decided to make a podcast reviewing every single episode of its beloved reboot, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Dylan whinges briefly about horror movies and Timothy nearly dies when he discovers that Dylan already knows a major spoiler.
